Timeless Family Home
These owners wanted to bring their dream to life and build a traditional Hamptons home of uncompromising quality and finish.
location: gold coast, QLD
Project year: 2019
project type: New Build
To create a very special, authentic Hamptons home, worthy of its prestigious gated enclave location, meticulously handcrafted and architecturally planned to convey a rare sense of traditional design and lavish quality.
The Challenge
The back of the site was quite steep. Extensive retaining works were required to remedy this and to create a tennis-court-sized lawn for the family to enjoy.
The Result
Opulent family and kitchen areas, with high panelled coffered ceilings, attract plenty of natural light across the Carrara marble benchtops, feature island bench, integrated Miele appliances, butler’s pantry, and the detailed wainscoting wall panelling.
Bi-folding doors lead to an expansive all-weather outdoor entertaining area with a generous built-in barbeque. A separate pool pavilion overlooking the swimming pool includes exposed rafters and tongue-and-groove lined ceiling and is well-appointed with feature stonework and a gas fireplace. A pergola with detailed rafters adds to the Hamptons style and offers proportion to the extensive swimming pool surrounds.
The hallway leading into the home from the triple garage includes a unique ‘hallway locker’, a concept coined in the Hamptons, which has been hand painted.
The guest suite features hand-painted wallpaper and the ensuite features marble basket weave floor tiling.
This beautiful home has six double-sized bedrooms, the master bedroom is finished with feature wall panelling, recessed lighting panels to the ceiling and subtle wallpapering. The master ensuite features mosaic marble flooring and Carrara marble wall tiles, and the double shower is framed with a handcrafted bull-nosed archway in Carrara marble. The master robe makes a lavish dressing room, complete with a centre island finished with a marble top. The dressing room is lined with extensive handcrafted robe doors and drawers.
Features that not only set this home apart but replicate the authentic Hampton style include:
Handcrafted doors with matching finishing trims, a hidden door to the stairs, imported feature wallpaper, French oak flooring, custom bronzed lighting from the Hamptons in the USA, detailed ceiling panels to the lounge and dining rooms, feature stone walls, extensive millwork, cobble stone feature entry and driveway edges.
What did the client say about the end result?

“I have known Richard Parsons for several years and he has been involved in two of our new builds over that time. Richard is one of the most honourable people you will meet in the building industry, or in any industry for that matter.
When we first used Richard we really noticed and appreciated all the extra time he took, before the project started, to ensure that the build would be delivered on time and within our budget. This really set him apart from so many of the other builders we have encountered. His attention to detail is great and because of his experience, he was always able to offer us alternative suggestions on product and finish.
His worksite was well maintained and tidy and his trades were always accommodating. I would be happy to recommend Richard for any type of building project, particularly high end bespoke home where attention to detail and planning is so important to great outcomes.”
